- Q. Where is Safer Parking?
Q. Do we have to book in advance?
A. To secure a spot we suggest you book in advance online, as parking space is issued on a first come first served basis. Please fill in the booking form on the website to secure your spot.
Q. What if I have to cancel? Does Safer Parking provide refunds?
A. Refunds will only be given if the request is made 7 days prior to the booking date. All refunds will be less a processing fee (approx. 3%). There will be no refunds for cancellations within 7 days – even if tracks or tours are cancelled due to weather.
Q. How do we get entry to Safer Parking?
A. Access tags must be obtained prior to arrival at the car park and are available from our main office – Fiordland Jet – at 84 Lakefront Drive
Q. What if we need to pick up our proximity tag very early/late?
Our office hours can vary, so please check Google. You may pick up your access tag the day prior to your booking date at no additional cost.
If you will be unable to pick up your proximity tag during Fiordland Jet opening hours, please let us know immediately so we can arrange an alternative.
Q. Where do we pay?
A. You pay online via the booking link using your credit card details – or chose to pay via bank transfer.
If you do not book online, you can pay directly at Fiordland Jet with cash or card (2.65% surcharge applies to all credit cards)
Q. Is transport included in my Safer Parking booking?
A. No, Safer Parking does not include transportation. You must contact your excursion provider directly regarding any transportation to/from Safer Parking.
*Please note there is currently no taxi service operating in Te Anau
Q. How do we get transportation to/from Safer Parking?
A. You must contact your excursion/transport provider directly so see if pickups are available
*Real NZ will provide pick-up from Safer Parking for their overnight Milford & Doubtful Sound Cruises. They do not provide pickups for day cruises.
*We may be able to assist with transport in a pinch – give us a ring on 0800 253 826
Q. What if I've booked transport with Tracknet?
A. All transport must be booked directly with Tracknet – a surcharge for pickup at Safer booking may apply.
Please call Tracknet to confirm pickup from Safer Parking. Drop all baggage and other passengers at Tracknet. Only the driver of the vehicle should head to Safer Parking to be picked up curb side.
Q. What if I’m renting a vehicle?
A. We happily accept rental vehicles. We will ask for your rego (license plate) when you check-in/pick up your access tag.
Q. How do I use my Access Tag?
A. The Car Park is fully automated. Swipe your access tag to enter/exit through the main gate – Remember to take your access tag with you. After you’ve finished your time with Safer Parking, open the gate to exit with your vehicle and then drop your access tag into the slot below. It’s that easy and instructions are posted just in case.
Q. Can Safer Parking provide long-term parking in Te Anau?
A. Yes. Contact Safer Parking with your specific requirements and we will give you a quote.
Q. Can we leave baggage and other items in our car?
A. That is always up to your discretion. We are an incredibly safe parking provider, with alarmed, electric fencing & security lighting.
Q. Are toilets available at Safer Parking?
A. Yes (Please be courteous)

– Kepler Track Car Park (Lake Te Anau Control Gates) – 6.5km; approx. 1.5hr walk
